About Us
A LITTLE HISTORY
Ever since an early age I had always shown a great interest in making things, building, sculptures, carvings, drawing and abstract paintings.
But it wasn’t until my senior years at high school where I excelled in all these areas and strived to learn more about my interests and gain as much experience possible before leaving school. At the age of 18 I started my first full time position as a trainee Cabinetmaker in Hastings where I learned the basic skills and knowledge of cabinetmaking.
3 years later I gained employment within another company where I was able to indulge further into my creative side and work along some of the best craftsmen in the Hawke’s Bay if not New Zealand. Working in an enviorment with highly skilled cabinetmakers I quickly mastered the art of producing quality handcrafted furniture.
I was in my element, every piece I made was different from the last and never boring. I was making everything from bedroom furniture to dining suites, entertainment units, bookcases, built-in units and occasional furniture, all with detail and originality.
I spent the next 10 years watching, learning, crafting quality handcrafted furniture and meeting new clients with exciting careers and getting the chance to be welcomed into their beautiful homes and see how my furniture transformed the desired space.
After 13 years of learning the craft of Cabinetmaking I wanted more, more than just been given a job sheet and shown the timber pile to select my work. I wanted to create my own designs and see the excitement on clients faces when I delivered my own furniture to their homes.
In 2004, Elusive Furniture Ltd was created and I have been manufacturing quality furniture to local Hawke’s Bay and surrounding regions ever since.
With a passion for Cabinetmaking and attention to detail, I strive to offer an excellent service where all my clients can feel confident in their choice to buy from ‘Elusive Furniture’. I believe to be successful in business you not only need to sell a great product, but you also need to ensure your clients are 100% satisfied with their purchase. Communication is the key, if something is not quite right, then it must be addressed or the finished product can never be fully appreciated.
MY PERSONAL GUARANTEE
“I personally guarantee all my work to be of the highest standards of workmanship and quality, it will not leave my workshop unless I am 100% satisfied!”
